Write a recipe and record a production run

Create a bakery recipe with ingredients and wastage, then record a production run that deducts ingredients from stock and adds finished goods.

Write a recipe

  1. Add ingredients as products with their purchase price and unit (kg, g, piece), marked not for sale.
  2. Open Manufacturing → Recipes and create a recipe for a finished product.
  3. Add each ingredient with its quantity and wastage %.
  4. Enter the batch yield and any production cost (labour or overhead).
  5. Save; the recipe shows the cost per unit.

Record a production run

  1. Open Add production, choose the location, the product and the quantity made.
  2. Record any wasted units.
  3. Add a lot number and expiry date if you track them.
  4. Finalise: ingredients come off stock, finished goods go on.

Questions about this guide

Do ingredients need to be products?

Yes, as stock items you can mark 'not for sale' so they don't appear on the register or store.

When does stock change?

When you finalise the production run, not at each sale.
