Switching

Switch bakery POS systems in six days, for free.

We import your products and customers for you, your open pre-orders move with their deposits, and the old register stays as a backup until you’re sure. No setup fee, no import fee.

The plan

What does a six-day bakery POS switch look like?

Start on a Monday in a quiet week. By Sunday every register is on the new system, and nothing was lost on the way.

  1. Monday

    Export

Download products, customers and (optionally) suppliers from your current POS as CSV. Note open pre-orders.

  2. Tuesday

    Import

Start your trial; we import the CSVs for you and check prices, sizes and categories.

  3. Wed–Thu

    Fill the gaps

Add deposit rules, scale codes, par levels, staff logins. Connect printer and drawer.

  4. Friday

    Pre-orders move

Re-enter open pre-orders with their deposits; take all new ones in GetBakeryPOS.

  5. Saturday

    Side by side

Run the new register at one counter; the old one stays as backup.

  6. Sunday

    Switch

Move every register. Keep the old account read-only for history.

Tip for a clean import

Before exporting, delete products you no longer sell and merge duplicates (“Concha”, “concha vanilla”, “CONCHA”). A clean catalogue becomes a clean online store.

Switching questions

How do I switch bakery POS systems without losing orders?

Export products and customers as CSV, import them into a trial, re-enter open pre-orders with their deposits, run both systems side by side for a day, then move the counter. The six-day plan on this page is the order we recommend.

What does switching cost?

Nothing. Import help is free, there is no setup fee, and the first 30 days are a free trial.

Can you import from Square, Toast, Clover or BakeSmart?

Yes — all of them export CSV files of items and customers, which we import. See each comparison for specifics.

Can I keep my sales history?

Past sales stay in your old system: keep it read-only for a while, or export the reports you need for tax. Products, customers and stock move across.

What about my contract with the old provider?

Check its end date and any cancellation terms first. We can prepare everything so you switch on that date.

Will my printer, scanner and cash drawer work?

Most standard receipt printers, USB/Bluetooth scanners and printer-driven cash drawers do. Proprietary terminals tied to one vendor do not. See the hardware guide.

Do I need a new card terminal?

Only if your current one is locked to your old POS company. Card payments run through your own processor’s terminal.

When is the best time to switch?

Three to six weeks before your busy season, never during it. If Rosca or mooncake orders are coming, switch early enough to take those pre-orders in the new system.

How long does it take?

Under a week, with an hour for the actual switch.

Move before the next season.
