A letter to bakery owners
About GetBakeryPOS: a point of sale that keeps a baker’s calendar.
Most point-of-sale systems were built for coffee shops and restaurants: a queue, a menu, a payment. Bakeries work differently. Half of a good day was sold last week, as pre-orders with deposits. The best customers order cakes with photos and names in icing. Sweets go on the scale. And the year has peaks — Rosca de Reyes, mooncakes, Eid, Mother’s Day — that make or break it.
So we set up a POS around that calendar. Pre-orders with pickup dates and deposits. Custom cake orders the decorator can open. Scale labels that scan. A bake list for tomorrow. Lots and dates on what you sell. And an online store that builds itself from your catalogue.
We also set it up for the people who run bakeries: many of them first- or second-generation owners who would rather read the screen in Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic or Urdu. So it speaks those languages, and so does this site.
